Blogmas Day 22: Wrapping Tips

Hi guys!

I’ve had my shopping done since December 10th, which was like a complete shock to myself! I’m usually the one who is running around on Christmas Eve scrambling! But this year, other than one more stocking filler, I am done! But what I haven’t done, is wrap! Until last night that is!

I was adamant on buying my own wrapping paper this year (usually I just raid my moms stash-sorry ma!) because I wanted to get a lil fancy and creative! So I decided to put together a few tips to help you go from hot mess wrapping, to done by pros!

  1. Choose a theme- this one is super important because it makes it look like you planned everything out and really thought about it! My theme this year is gold, white and black with a rustic vibe! I bought 4 different kind of wrapping paper that fits this vibe.
  2. Use twine- I always like to use a lil extra twine or ribbon and tie it around the gift!
  3. Get fancy tags- instead of just using those sticker tags, pay the money and get the ones that you tie onto the gift! It looks better and shows more effort!
  4. Coordinate your bags- if you are giving someone a present that needs to be wrapped and something in a bag, spend the little extra and get the corosponding bag. It is worth it!
  5. Take your time- I think wrapping is one of the best parts of Christmas, and you want to make it look like you took your time and put effort into it. Cut off excess instead of just bunching it up, have neat corners, all that! The recipient (especially females) will definitely notice!

Happy wrapping guys! I can’t believe there only 3 days till Christmas!

Blogmas Day 21: Christmas Nails

Hi guys,

HOW IS IT ALREADY THE 21ST?! I am in shock that the month has flown by so fast! I guess with the stress and excitement of the holidays, it always does, but this year it seems to have come and gone in lightening speed! Oh well!

For today’s post, I figured I would do something a little glam and talking about nails! specifically Christmas nails. Now I get my nails done-they are not real-but most of these that I will be showing are Pinterest inspired that you can totally do at home. Sorry, no pictures, but I will link each with my inspiration! They are all subtle, but definitely festive!

Black and Gold

These ones I have definitely done before. They are beautiful and subtle and can really be done at any time of the year. You start with black polish and then add some gold sparkly polish to the accent nail, and wherever else you really want to!

Red with White Ribbons/Snowflakes

I think these are just absolutely adorable. It would take a lot more patience than the ones above, but the design is worth it. Start with a red polish, and use a thin tipped white to make the snowflakes and the bows.

Red and Silver

Like the black and gold ones above, this design is super subtle but still brings the Christmas vibes. You apply the silver glitter polish to red nails, giving it the perfect little festive touch!

White with Red and Green Glitter

These, are actually what I was hoping for when I got mine done, but they didn’t have this glitter at the salon, sad day! But the white wth the red and green glitter screams Christmas without the hassle of being precise!

Christmas Galore!

Finally, one that is not for the faint of heart, this design has everything Christmas related. From Santa’s suit, to the tree, it is just cute enough to spend the 3 ours it probably takes to get it right….

And there you have it! Happy nail art!

Blogmas Day 20: Yummy Brownies

Hi guys!

For today’s post, I’m going to be talking you through how I make ahhhmmmazing homemade brownies because who doesn’t love brownies lets be honest… I don’t remember exactly how I found this recipe, but I honestly probably just googled brownie recipes. I have been making brownies using this recipe for the past like 10 years, and they are good everytime without fail!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter MELTED
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder- I always use Hershey’s but any will do
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Heat oven to 350F & grease baking pan
  2. Stir together butter, sugar and vanilla in bowl. Add eggs and beat well with spoon
  3. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt and gradually add to egg mixture, stir until well blended.
  4. Fold in any optional fillers (chocolate chips, nuts etc.)
  5. Bake 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Cool completely and serve.
  7. Enjoy!

I almost always ways make double batches, becUse I like my brownies a bit thicker. I also almost always add something in, usually chocolate chips! They are delish!

Happy baking!

Blogmas Day 19: Getting Over The Christmas Slump

Hi guys,

Sorry there wasn’t a post yesterday, it was a Monday of all Mondays. I woke up feeling very out of it, work was a pain and I hadn’t written anything to prepare for day 18. I was just feeling very Scrooge ish, if I’m being honesty, and I thought I needed a day off of Blogmas.

I was a little worried it would disappoint some of my readers, but then again, I knew I needed it for my own benefit. So thank you for being patient!

With myself feeling a bit down from the Christmas blues, I figured I’d write a little post about way to get over it! With the stress of finding the right gifts and stuff, I know everyone gets at least one day where their inner Bahumbug comes out.

What works best for me is to just relax a bit. I got home from work, and had a big cup of hot chocolate curled up on the couch snuggling my dog. It was just what I needed! I woke up feeling much better this morning and once again excited for Christmas!

With doing Blogmas, this is the first time I’ve felt a bit of pressure with my blog, and it is totally okay to feel this way. You are writing because you want to, not because you have to, and I think that was the most important thing for me to remember yesterday!

Blogmas Day 17: Christmas with Grandmother

NO SPOILERS, I PROMISE!

Hi guys!

For the past 3 years, my brother and I have had a tradition with our Grandmother that instead of giving gifts for Christmas, we go see the newest Star Wars movie and go out to eat. It started with The Force Awakens, and we have continued it ever since.

Today, we went to see The Last Jedi, and let me tell you, it was amazing!!! I won’t go into details because I hate spoilers, but I will do a review post Christmas sometime, once it’s more likely that everyone who wouldn’t want spoilers had already seen it.

What I love about this tradition is that it really focuses on the time with loved ones around the holidays, instead of presents. Everyone enjoyed the movie and we had a nice lunch after, and we spent less money and time trying to figure out what to get each other. These are the kinds of gifts that we will cherish forever, and the moments that we will never forget.

We plan on doing this next year, Star Wars movie or not, and it is something to look forward to each year. I would love to hear everyone else’s special non-gift Christmas traditions!

Blogmas Day 16: Everyday Winter Makeup Look

Hi guys!

I have been meaning to do this post for a while now because I’ve been loving all the stuff I bought on Black Friday! So without further ado, enjoy my everyday winter makeup look!

Foundation/Concealer

Aftee moisturizing and all that, I use my Fenty Beauty Profiltr foundation. I am shade 180, and I apply this all over either using the Fenty foundation brush or my RealTechniques beauty blender. Once that’s blended in really well, I use my TooFaced Born This Way concealer in light nude. I apply this under my eyes and on any blemishes, blending with which ever tool I used that day for foundation.

Blush/Highlight

I then use my Anastasia Beverly Hills Ultimate Glow Kit, using a RealTechniques angled blending brush. I mix the two lightest colors, Snow and White Sand, and run that over my cheek bones and anywhere else I feel like shimmering! To finish off I use my L’Oreal true match blush in the shade N3-4.

Eyebrows

For brows, I use Bennefits BrowZings in the shade 3. I first brush out my brows using a clean spooly brush and then I use the small brushes that come with them first applying the wax with the angled end and the powder using the other end.

Eyes

For eyes, I usually use my Stila stay all day liquid liner on my top lid, usually making a flick. For lashes I use my TooFaced Better Than Sex mascara. I don’t wear eyeshadow on most days, but if I’m feeling glam, I use my Urban Decay Naked Heat pallet, because it is to die for!

Lips

And finally, for lips I tend to stick to the nude shades for everyday, and my go to is my Tarte matte lip in the shade Bestie. It is a great finish and the color is perfect!

So there you have it! This is my everyday makeup, it changes sometimes, adding eyeshadow or using a darker lip, but everything else stays pretty true!

Blogmas Day 15: Festive Sugar Cookies

Hi guys!

Who doesn’t love baking around this time of year? And what are Christmas cookies if you don’t make sugar cookies? They are one of my favorites to make this time of year, but this year I strayed from my trusty recipe. I tried a different one, mostly because ti was more manageable with my sched, and it came out great! So without further ado, here you have it!

I used this recipe that I found on Pinterest. For this recipe, you don’t have to chill the dough, which was why I found it so appealing! I followed the measurements and the ingredients exactly.  They came out delicious, although next time I would probably omit the almond extract, but that’s just me!

For frosting, I just used a couple squeezable icing packets that I picked up at the grocery store, because I just love the icing and didn’t have time to make my own. The red is Betty Crocker, and the green was Cake Mate.

They came out the perfect consistency, and were super delicious! I hope you guys can try this recipe and let me know how it goes!

Happy baking!
