Blogmas Day 10: Winter Wonderland

Hi guys,

So New Hampshire got it’s first real snow fall yesterday and last night, and because of this, I figured I would do a little snow appreciation post. I am one of those people who loves snow, until about mid January and it just keeps coming. It gets real old real fast, but I LOVE snow around Christmas time.

I remember one year, my brother got a snowboard for Christmas, and we had just enough snow for him to try it out. I was so jealous-until I tried it and fell and vowed to never snowboard again-and ever since snow on Christmas day has been a rare treat. There is just something about waking up onChristmas morning to a fresh snowfall, drinking your coffee by the lit Christmas tree. I just love it!

Yesterdays snow really put me in the Christmas spirit, and I can only say, BRING IT! I know this post was a bit short, but the next 14 will make up for it, I promise!

Blogmas Day 9: Stocking Stuffers for Her

Hi guys!

Stockings have always been my favorite party of Christmas, and as I’ve gotten older whenever my Mum asks for a Christmas list, I ask only for a stocking (she has yet to only given me a stocking, but thats on her. Love you Mum!). There is just something about getting a bit of candy, some new deodorant and some other small things that makes Christmas. SO I thought I would put together a little list of the best stocking stuffers IMO, under $20.

Colourpop lipstick-if the lady you are shopping for likes makeup, I HIGHLY recommend these. They are super cheap, and the formulation is amazing. I personally like the matte ones, but they have glosses and satins and all different kinds.

Anything travel size-this can be shampoo, toothpaste, perfume, I really mean anything. It is cheap and it fills up the stocking, and nothing is worse than taking gigantic bottles when you go stay somewhere other than  your house.

Magazines-I am a huge magazine junky. I have subscriptions to Vogue and Vanity Fair. Any magazine is a perfect addition to a stocking. She can catch up on the gossip of the world, while munching on candy.

Deodorant and Toothbrushes-these can be travel or normal sizes, but I personally always look forward to both of these things, because they are staples in my house.

Phone charger-I have about 4 phone chargers for my phone;two that live in my bedroom, one that lives in my purse and one that lives in my work bag. It’s horrible to have to take one phone charger with you, because you always inevitably end up losing them.

Candy-last but certainly not least, candy. I personally always look forward to the Christmas tree shaped Reese’s-they just taste better-but I don’t know if those are just an American thing. Any candy will work really, just make sure to get her favorite.

I could go on forever, there are just so many options, but these ones are some of my favorites and I think any girl would love!

Happy Stocking Stuffing!

Blogmas Day 8: The Unimaginable

Keep some room in your heart for the unimaginable.

I saw this quote on a sign at a small tire place in my town. They put a different quote up everyday. Each day I drive by that sign and think of a way that the quote can apply to my life. Sometimes they are silly, but other days, like this day, they are meaningful and thought provoking. This one struck me and with Christmas and the new year coming up, I find myself questioning my own happiness. I am happy, but could I be happier? Is there something in my life that I could change that would be for the better? The answer to those questions are yes, they are always yes, because we are ever changing beings, we evolve and change out interests on the daily.

But what is it that would make me happier? And this is why the quote it home with me. Because I don’t know what it is, because it is unimaginable. I don’t know if it will be a person, a choice I make, or anything else, but something will change my life irrevocably. I am not afraid of this, it does not intimidate me, I have always been one who dealt with my own future as a lottery machine; you get what you spin.

So I am challenging everyone to take the time and really evaluate their lives. Make room for the unimaginable, because it will change you beyond your wildest dreams. Hold this place in your heart where you know the unimaginable will reside, and guard it like your life depends on it. Because at the end of the day, your happiness lies within you, and nothing will make you happy until you yourself make you happy.

Blogmas Day 7: Winter Night Time Skin Care

Heyy guys!

I have had problem skin for as long as I can remember. I took the whole Proactiv route, which worked for a while but became too expensive, and too much of a pain in the arse really. But after searching and trying different things, I have finally gotten a routine that seems to work pretty well for me. Now, don’t get me wrong, I still get pimples and black heads and all that stuff, but my skin seems to be healthier overall, with less marks and what blemishes I do get, they are few and far between. If you’re skin is giving you problems, maybe give these products a try, because they have been heavenly for my skin.

The first thing I do when I get ready for bed is take all of my makeup off. To do this, I use the Neutrogena makeup remover cleansing wipes. These work so well, and they are so convenient for travel and all that jazz.

Once all/most of my makeup is off, I use No.7 Beautiful Skin Hot Cloth Cleanser. I do not use the cloths that they give you-honestly I’m not really sure why, I just don’t-instead using a *clean* washcloth of my own. I take about two pumps of this and work it into my skin for a couple of minutes, removing any left over makeup and really making sure to get all over. I then take the washcloth, wet it with really hot water and wipe everything away, patting my face dry before moving on.

Once my face is cleansed, I take my La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo acne treatment cream and rub it into my skin, focusing on where I tend to break out or any problem areas I have. I have always had acne prone skin, and this has been the Holy Grail in dealing with that. It clears pimples, as well as helps to remove any marks.

Once that is all worked into my skin, I moisturize. The Effaclar Duo cream does dry your face out so moisturizing is a must! For this I use Olay Total Effects Anti-Aging Night Firming Cream. This stuff hydrates your skin without leaving it oily, which is perfect when you have combination skin like me! And yeah yeah yeah, I’m 23 and use anti-aging cream, but I don’t want wrinkles at 30 thank you very much!

Yeah, that’s about it! This routine has been working wonders for me, and hopefully it will help some of you who are struggling with your skin as well!

Blogmas Day 6: Christmas To Do List

Hi guys!

I’m sure everyone has their own special things that they love to do around Christmas time. Whether that includes ice skating, or just reading all day, it is something meaningful to you and something you should definitely fit in your schedule. If you don’t have your own little things, or if you’re just nosy like me and like to know these things, I thought I would share my Christmas to do list with you all. Hopefully it gives someone some inspiration, or makes you more excited!

  • Go ice skating
  • Drink hot chocolate by a fire (inside or out!)
  • Wear a ton of ugly sweaters
  • Go to a Christmas party
  • Hang out with friends and family

Until tomorrow!

Blogmas Day 5: DIY Pinterest Snowmen

Hi Guys!

Were getting a little DIY-y today! I was browsing Christmas decorations on Pinterest about a month ago, and I came across some gems! The ones that really caught my eye were snowmen made out of socks, and I thought I just had to give it a try. I am pretty creative and artistic, but one thing I can’t do is sew, so (lol) I replaced the needly bit with sharpie, but more on that later.

What you are going to need to give these bad boys a try are white tube socks, rice (lots of it!), rubber bands, some kind of Christmasy fabric, scissors and sharpies. All of this can be purchased at Walmart in the States, but I’m assuming any type of crafty/everything/catch all store would have it all. So, lets get started.

Step 1: take your sock and fill it with the rice, up to about the heel of the sock. When it is full, hit the bottom of the sock onto the surface you are working on to kind of flatten it all to the bottom. When you are done that, tie the top off with a rubber band at the heel, and cut off the top of the sock directly above the rubber band.

Step 2: take a second rubber band and tie that around a smaller section of the sock so that you get a head sized ball. Then, take the portion of the sock that you cut off, tie knot in one end, and place the other end on top of the head, i.e giving the snowman a hat!

Step 3: take your Christmasy fabric, and cut a long strip of that off, tying it around the rubber band separating the head from the body.  This is the snowman’s scarf!

Step 4: this is the part where you can sew, but I can’t, so sharpie it is! I drew on a face and buttons, but if you wanted, you could actually sew the buttons on.

And there you have it! You can color the hat, or leave it white, I did both as you can see from the picture above. Really make them as colorful as you want, but I thought they were really cute to set on a mantle piece or window sill for the holidays!

Until tomorrow!

Blogmas Day 4: Favorite Festive Candles

Hi guys!

I hope you are enjoying Blogmas so far! Now, one of my favorite ways to spruce up my house for the holidays is by lighting some pretty, festive scented candles. I love all candles, I just feel as though they make any room feel homey and warm, and what’s better than that around Christmas? I have the staple balsam scented Yankee Candles, as well as the crisp winter air scents, but I wanted to go a little different with some of the this year. So I headed to the shops, and picked up some new ones!

The first one I got was from the Home for the Holidays range from Rite Aid (lol, yeah a drug store). This one is Cranberry Orange scented, and literally smells amazing. I’ve just recently really fell in love with the cranberry and orange combo and it was perfect that I found this one!

The second one I got is a Candle-Lite Company gem and it is Cinnamon Apple Crisp scented. Now, I personally think of this scent as a more fall and autumnal scent, but when it is burning with the other, more Christmasy scents, it just takes it up a notch. Plus this one is three wicked, so it just looks gorgeous.

The last one I got, I don’t honestly remember the brand. I do know I got it at Target, and it is in this really cute gold and pink pot (if that helps anyone…), and it is a Mulling Spices scent. Oh my God, this scent is wonderful. I keep this one on my night stand, and I light it for a bit before I go to bed each night, and it is so relaxing.

So there you have it! If you are on the hunt for some different candles this year-there is such a thing as too many sugar cookie candles-than I would definitely try these ones out. They are obviously Christmas, but not too much so that you can’t burn them year round!

See you tomorrow!
