Blogmas Day 1: My Christmas Read

Hi guys!

HAPPY BLOGMAS!!!! I have so many posts planned that I can’t wait to share with you! I know you will probably all be sick of reading a million posts about ugly sweaters and Christmas cookies-you’ll find a few of those ere as well NGL- but I have some posts that will hopefully stand out from the crowd. I will be doing Blogmas in the traditional sense, i.e 24 posts from now until Christmas Eve, but I may write up something small for Christmas day as well, so keep your eyes peeled!

For the last two years I have started a new book on December 1st with the goal of finishing it by Christmas day, because whats better than being cuddled up by the Christmas tree with a hot mug of tea or cocoa reading a book? (Well, I could name a lot of things, but don’t knock it till you try it, eh?) Last year, my Christmas read was Wild by Cheryl Strayed, which has still yet to be beat as my favorite book of all time. The year before I read Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer, again an terrific book.

This year, I’ve decided to read Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaids Tale. I have been wanting to watch the television series based on this, but I am a firm believer in reading before watching, and I will not let myself watch the show until I have read the book (nerd alert, judge me). I figured this was the perfect time to start it, and I’ll be able to add the show to a list of shows to watch in the new year.

I will do a recap/review post when I finish the book, but feel free to go out and grab this book yourself and read along with me! Get the full effect of snugging up and reading on a winter day!

Until tomorrow, happy reading!

XOXO, K

  1. The Handmaid’s Tale is an awesome read, and that is a cool tradition. 🙂 I actually used to always watch the movie first, because if I read the book first, I could never appreciate the movie. Now the order doesn’t matter, because I no longer compare the two mediums.
